RPAS Operators

Why join Bars?

RPAS, UAV and drone operators performing services under a contract often need to meet a set of expectations and requirements of their customers. This in turn necessitates a form of oversight and assurance that those expectations are being met. The Flight Safety Foundation’s Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS) Program was developed to streamline and simplify the assurance processes for both contracting parties, maintaining the highest level of aviation safety whilst saving time and effort.

Today, a BARS registration has become a requirement for large parts of contracted RPAS operations in the global mining and resource sector and beyond. Before it became the leading industry standard, many operators were seeing multiple audit visits each year across their various customers! Now, one single BARS audit a year satisfies the aviation safety audit requirements of all BARS Member Organizations. Being a BARS registered RPAS operator thus significantly reduces the audit burden.

Benefits for Operators

A single audit is accepted by over 40 different contracting companies. This includes 8 of the top 10 global mining companies.
