FSF Safety Summit to Explore COVID-19 Lessons from International Perspective

Sep 22, 2020
Eurocontrol DG Eamonn Brennan will deliver Day 2 keynote at IASS 2020.

BRUSSELS — Lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic and how European aviation stakeholders have collaborated during one of the most difficult times in aviation history will be among the topics discussed during Flight Safety Foundation’s upcoming International Air Safety Summit. The 73rd annual IASS will be held virtually Oct. 19−22. The theme for this year’s four-day event is “Safety Leadership and Global Collaboration During Crisis.”

Eurocontrol Director General Eamonn Brennan will open IASS Day 2 at 0900 Central European Time (0700 UTC) on Oct. 20 with a keynote address.

Following Brennan’s remarks will be a panel discussion on European initiatives and collaboration during the global pandemic featuring Montserrat Barriga, president of the European Regions Airline Association, and Thomas Reynaert, managing director of Airlines for Europe.

Other highlights of Day 2 include presentations on COVID-19 lessons learned by the aviation industry and a session on more fully developing and optimizing safety management systems.

The IASS 2020 program comprises a mix of live and prerecorded presentations and panel discussions. The program will start in the morning in a different time zone each day so the sessions are convenient for as broad an audience as possible. For example, Day 1 will begin at 0900 EDT (1300 UTC), but Day 2 will begin at 0900 Central European Time (0700 UTC).

The program also features a series of on-demand sessions that will be available for attendees to view at their convenience, as well as opportunities for exhibitor/attendee networking.

Visit the IASS 2020 page on the Foundation’s website for more information on the program and speakers and to register.
