“We are shocked and saddened at the news that an Air Algerie MD83, has crashed in Mali today. This has been a tragic week in aviation and our thoughts and prayers go out to the passengers, crew and their families of this flight.

We all know that aviation is extremely safe, with safety rates that are the envy of other industries. A week such as this, with a tragic cluster of aviation tragedies, serves as a strong reminder that safety must always be the first consideration in everything. Safety is never ‘done.’ The investigations will progress in Taiwan and Mali and investigators will reach conclusions that advance safety even further.”
