FSF Recognizes Lifetime Achievement in Aviation Safety

Nov 1, 2011

Singapore, November 1, 2011 — At the opening reception of its 64th annual International Air Safety Seminar, the Flight Safety Foundation recognized Paul-Louis Arslanian for his lifetime dedication to aviation safety by presenting him with the FSF-Boeing Aviation Safety Lifetime Achievement Award.

Mr. Arslanian retired as head of the BEA in 2009, after having held that position since 1990. During his tenure, the BEA developed a reputation for technical competence, independence from outside influence and dedication to aviation safety.

Prior to joining the BEA, Mr. Arslanian spent 17 years at the Direction Generale de l’Aviation Civile as deputy director of civil aeronautical programs. “During his entire career, Mr. Arslanian has shown a dedication to advancing aviation safety through technological innovation and international cooperation,” commented FSF President and CEO, William R. Voss. “He was an obvious choice for this award and we are honored to be able to present him with it. He has investigated complicated accidents under difficult circumstance in some of the most remote places of the world and courageously pursued the truth.”

The FSF-Boeing Aviation Safety Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes an individual for his or her lifetime commitment and contribution to enhancing aviation safety. Recipients contribute to the overall safety of aviation through decades of work, international influence, enhancing safety beyond the organization for whom he or she works, and a commitment to active participation in activities, initiatives or dialogue that seek to promote aviation safety.
