Phoenix, AZ, May 17, 2006 — The Flight Safety Foundation presented its Business Aviation Meritorious Service Award to James S. Waugh, Jr. last week. The presentation was made during the 51st annual Corporate Aviation Safety Seminar in Phoenix, AZ. More than 400 attendees were present to celebrate Mr. Waugh’s honor at an evening reception following the session.
The Business Aviation Meritorious Service Award is given annually to an individual for outstanding contributions to corporate aviation safety. Nominated for the award by Scott Fera, VP of Marketing for FlightSafety International, Mr. Waugh was selected by a Flight Safety Foundation award committee.
“Jim has aviation in his blood; he was a fine choice for this award,” commented Stuart Matthews, President and CEO of the Flight Safety Foundation. “His father was an FSF Board Member years ago and clearly passed his love of aviation to his son. We are pleased to be able to take this opportunity to show our appreciation for the considerable amount of work that Jim has done in the field of business aviation safety.”
Mr. Waugh is Executive Vice President at FlightSafety International. He has been with FSI for 30 years and is largely responsible for the significant growth of the organization during that time, the FSI Learning Center network growing from 16 to 40 locations.
Mr. Waugh has been involved in various other aviation organizations, including sitting as a board member of FlightSafety Boeing, participating in NBAA activities and serving as the Secretary of the Wings Club in New York for 14 years.
