ALEXANDRIA, Va. — Nominations are now open for the FSF-Airbus Human Factors in Aviation Safety Award, which will be presented at Flight Safety Foundation’s 71st annual International Air Safety Summit (IASS 2018) on Nov. 12-14, 2018, in Seattle, Washington.
The FSF-Airbus Award was established in 1999 to recognize “outstanding achievement in human factors contributions to aviation safety.” The award was instituted by the Foundation and sponsored by Airbus to encourage human factors research that would help reduce human error — one of the most common elements in aviation accidents.
The award is presented every other year, or as warranted, to an individual, group or organization for a one-time contribution or sustained contributions in the field of human factors. Dr. Tony Kern, founder and CEO of Convergent Performance, a noted author and a leading authority on human performance in time-constrained, error-intolerant environments, won the award in 2015.
To submit a nomination, please fill out the nomination form, and return the form and a one-page letter supporting your nomination by Sept. 10, 2018. The winner will be notified after selection by the award committee.
