Washington, DC, April 12, 2006 — Marion Blakey, administrator of the Federal Aviation Administration, addressed a large group of reporters today at the Flight Safety Foundation’s April Newsmaker Breakfast.
Blakey reviewed some of the issues currently facing the FAA, including the National Air Traffic Controllers Association contract, runway incursions, and the decline in operational errors in the last month.
Reporters had the chance to ask her questions following her 15-minute presentation. These questions focused on the air traffic controller labor contract, but also covered the state of the aviation trust fund, the strategy for working with Congress, and various safety priorities facing the agency.
“As always, Marion was engaging and candid with our breakfast attendees,” commented FSF President Stuart Matthews. “She updated us on the latest news on various pressing issues, most notably the NATCA contract as well as various FAA safety issues.”
A Newsmaker Breakfast is an opportunity for reporters to interact with notable aviation experts in an informal, on-the-record atmosphere. Speakers have included government officials, airline and aerospace manufacturing CEOs as well as members of Congress and other important figures in the industry.
