Aviation Safety World Replaces Existing Publications
Alexandria, VA, June 21, 2006 — The Flight Safety Foundation’s new monthly journal, Aviation Safety World, was revealed today at a reception in Washington, DC. The inaugural issue of ASW was mailed last week to FSF members and subscribers.
In the Fall of 2005, the FSF Board of Governors and staff decided to update its publications by replacing the existing seven periodicals with a monthly, full color journal. The goal was to not only maintain the quality of the content, but present it in a more up-to-date and readable form.
“We are very proud to launch Aviation Safety World,” commented Jay Donoghue, Director of Publications at FSF and editor in chief of the new journal. “It contains the same accurate information as in our old publications, but more timely and in a more interesting format to expand our readership beyond the safety community.”
The Flight Safety Foundation is renowned for the quality of the publications and its mandate to widely disseminate information for the benefit of global aviation safety, always approving the non-commercial reproduction of its material. In recent months, the Foundation has embarked on an augmented external communication effort with the aviation industry, the media and other interested parties.
“Jay and his publications staff have produced a wonderful journal that is sure to become a ‘must-read,’” said Stuart Matthews, FSF President and CEO. “When we started this process we expected the best, but this journal has surpassed those expectations.”
In addition to the articles similar to those contained in the old publications, Aviation Safety World also includes letters to the editor, opinion pieces, news of the Foundation, a calendar of industry-wide safety events and more.
