Alexandria, VA, June 30, 2006 — President and COO of jetBlue, Dave Barger spoke to a gathering of media at the June Newsmaker Breakfast hosted by the Flight Safety Foundation. The event drew the attention of some of the leading reporters in the aviation industry.
Mr. Barger discussed some of the pressing issues facing jetBlue as well as their planned expansion in the future. He also spoke out in favor of repealing the Wright Amendment at Dallas Love Field, which limits access to that airport, as well as eliminating all false barriers to entry at the nation’s airports.
“Dave is a huge draw for the media because he speaks candidly and from years of experience,” stated FSF President and CEO Stuart Matthews. “In addition, the story of jetBlue is one that intrigues anyone who follows the aviation industry closely.”
After Mr. Barger’s opening comments, the media engaged him in an on-the-record question and answer session. The questions asked for details about the work the airline is doing to repeal the Wright Amendment, plans for route expansion and the initial impression of new fleet member, the Embraer 190.
The Flight Safety Foundation hosts approximately 10 Newsmaker Breakfasts a year both in Washington and internationally. These breakfasts are designed to provide the aviation media an opportunity to engage with leading individuals in the industry in an informal setting. Past speakers have included airline CEOs, members of Congress, government officials, and many others.
