(SINGAPORE) — Navigating the new normal and continuing to advance aviation safety during the pandemic and beyond is the theme of the 6th annual Singapore Aviation Safety Seminar (SASS), scheduled for March 23-25. The virtual event is jointly organized by Flight Safety Foundation and the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore.
“The Foundation is pleased to be partnering with Singapore to convene practitioners and experts from around the world to discuss a roadmap to recovery,” said Dr. Hassan Shahidi, president and CEO of the Foundation.
Scheduled keynote speakers for SASS 2021 are Subhas Menon, director general of the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines, and Dr. Sarah Bowrein, director of the Central Health Medical practice in Hong Kong. Bowrein, who has expertise in pandemic control and infectious disease epidemiology, is a member of the Executive Committee, and past president, of the Asia Pacific Travel Medicine Society.
The goal of this year’s event is to provide a platform for the discussion and sharing of insights among regulators and industry leaders about maintaining safety during the COVID-19 pandemic and recovery efforts.
Each day of SASS will start at 1300 Singapore time (0500 UTC) with a keynote speaker, followed by a panel discussion featuring an array of industry expects. Panel discussion topics include: safety leadership during crisis – how can we emerge stronger?; aviation mental health and human factors; and automation on the flight deck – bane or boon? SASS also will feature two prerecorded panel discussions, one on data analytics and the other on a medical perspective for safeguarding public health and restarting aviation.
