Annual Safety Conferences Kicks Off in Milan

Milan, Italy, November 3, 2010 — Today at the start of its 63rd annual International Air Safety Seminar, the Flight Safety Foundation recognized Flight Safety Australia with the Cecil A. Brownlow Award, an award sponsored by the Foundation and HIS Aviation Information and given each year to a person or publication in aviation media. The IASS has the privilege of being hosted by the Foundation 8 October 2001 and Demetra. It also is honored to be under the patronage of the President of the Italian Republic and with the endorsement of the Prime Minister.

Flight Safety Australia, the regular publication of the Civil Aviation Safety Authority, is being recognized for its achievement of regularly presenting a wide range of issues of interest to corporate and airline personnel in addition to its core audience of general aviation. Recent articles about medical protocols for diabetic pilots and the Concorde fatal accident are two examples of the wide range of interests served by the magazine.

“We are always pleased to bring attention to publications which do a particularly good job of presenting information from a technical field like aviation in a way that makes it interesting and informative,” noted FSF President and CEO William R. Voss. “Flight Safety Australia combines their real knowledge of the issues with the human touch and personal experiences in order to make its points clearly and colorfully. This magazine is a real asset in the aviation publication world.”

The award was presented to Flight Safety Australia and its editor, Margo Marchbank, at the opening session of IASS in Milan, Italy in front of a crowd of more than 400 attendees.
