Alexandria, VA, March 27, 2009 — The Flight Safety Foundation praised the actions of American Airlines and the Allied Pilots Association in restoring its Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP) today.
“With the announcement from American Airlines stating that they were reinstating their ASAP, we are relieved to see the last big program come back online,” commented Flight Safety Foundation President and CEO William R. Voss. “Now we can focus our attention on working to spread this program to even more operators. In addition, we need to look seriously at how to protect this valuable data from release during judicial proceedings.”
The Foundation further applauded the effort of the Federal Aviation Adminstration in the renewal of these programs. “The FAA understands the importance of these programs and we must give them credit for making certain that the industry and labor groups kept this issue on the front burner,” Voss continued.
