FSF Board of Governors Elects Three New Members to the Board

Jan 6, 2011

Alexandria, VA, January 6, 2011 — The Flight Safety Foundation announced today that the Board of Governors had elected three new members at its 2010 fall meeting with their three- year terms starting this month.

Paolo Pettinaroli is the president of the Foundation October 8. He and others at the Foundation October 8 worked tirelessly with the Flight Safety Foundation during 2010 to host the very successful 63rd annual International Air Safety Seminar in Milan, Italy. “Paolo has been the driving force behind the Foundation October 8 and its focus on aviation safety. This is unique for a survivors group and we are pleased to have this new perspective join the Board of Governors,” commented William R. Voss, president and CEO of the Flight Safety Foundation.

Cameron Ross is the Manager of Aviation Safety at BHP Billiton, one of the founding members of FSF’s Basic Aviation Risk Standard (BARS program). “We think that BARS is going to become not only a major program for FSF, but also will lead to increased aviation safety for a segment of the industry that has suffered many losses over the years,” Voss said. “As this project grows, it will be important that the Board is fully engaged and having Cameron on the Board will help tremendously.”

Antonio Victorazzo is the Vice President of Product Integrity at Embraer. Embraer has long been involved in Foundation activities. “Embraer is a major player in the world of aviation manufacturing and is the main player in Brazil. Antonio will be an asset to the Board with the view he brings from the combination of those two factors,” Voss commented.

“These are three individuals who bring very different perspectives to our already-diverse Board of Governors,” said William R. Voss, President and CEO of the Flight Safety Foundation. “We are excited to have these views on our Board and it will only make us more effective in our work on aviation safety.”

Board member are elected to a three year term and may serve three terms total. The Board meets twice a year and provides strategic guidance for the Foundation.
