Foundation Presents Distinguished Service Award to FAA’s Pardee

Apr 24, 2012

Washington, DC, April 24, 2012 — Flight Safety Foundation presented the Aviation Week & Space Technology Distinguished Service Award today to Jay Pardee, the Federal Aviation Administration’s Chief Scientist for Aviation Safety. Kevin Hiatt, Chief Operating Officer at the Foundation presented the award to Mr. Pardee at AW&ST’s NextGen Ahead luncheon.

The Distinguished Service Award, the oldest of FSF’s awards, is presented annually for distinguished service in achieving safer utilization of aircraft. “Jay Pardee is a worthy recipient of this award. He has had great success in building consensus and collaboration between the industry and the FAA as evidenced by his successful involvement with the Commercial Aviation Safety Team,” stated Mr. Hiatt. “He has set ambitious goals for Next Gen with strategies that won’t create unmitigated emergent risks.”

Mr. Pardee is also supervising the rapid growth of the Aviation Safety Information Analysis and Sharing (ASIAS) program.

“In nurturing and completing challenging programs on behalf of aviation safety, Jay has earned this award and I’m very pleased to be able to present it to him today,” Mr. Hiatt continued.
