Foundation Launches Spanish-Language Magazine

Jun 21, 2010

Alexandria, VA, June 21, 2010 — The Flight Safety Foundation announced today that a Spanish translation of its AeroSafety World (ASW) magazine now is available on its website for download. This translation is made possible thanks to the Federation of Latin American Pilots (FLAP), representing the region’s members in the International Federation of Airline Pilots’ Associations.

FLAP is sponsoring the translation of six issues of ASW, launching the project to keep its pilot members up to date on key safety issues. “It is our hope that we can keep this process going beyond the initial six translations,” commented FLAP’s Carlos Arroyo Landero. “The value of providing this valuable safety information in the native language for our pilots is immeasurable.”

Providing aviation safety information as widely as possible around the world has always been the mission of the Flight Safety Foundation. “Our work with FLAP to provide a Spanish language version, along with our recent partnership with the Civil Aviation Authority of China to produce a Chinese language version of ASW, will widen the reach of our safety information far beyond anything we have ever done before,” commented FSF President and Chief Executive Officer William R. Voss. “We are actively seeking funding to continue the Spanish language version. The ability to provide the magazine in Spanish will facilitate a much wider distribution of essential aviation safety information.” All versions of ASW are available for free download on our web site.
