Foundation Augments Technical Work with New Hire

Jul 13, 2011

Alexandria, VA, July 13, 2011 — The Flight Safety Foundation announced today the hiring of Rudy Quevedo as its new Deputy Director of Technical Programs. Mr. Quevedo will work closely with Jim Burin, FSF’s Director of Technical Programs. He starts this week in his new position.

Mr. Quevedo joins FSF from North American Airlines where he served as the Director of Safety since March 2007. “Rudy’s experience and expertise as the Director of Safety at North American Airlines makes him a great fit for the Flight Safety Foundation,” commented FSF President and CEO William R. Voss. “With his addition to our technical staff, we are much better positioned to expand our work into new safety initiatives. In addition, his background in safety investigations and maintenance will augment the Foundation’s expertise in that segment of the industry. We are very pleased to have Rudy join our staff.”

Mr. Quevedo started his aviation career as a mechanic and then lead mechanic for Eastern Airlines. He used that knowledge to move into a role as an air safety investigator at USAirways and then System Safety Analyst at jetBlue before joining North American Airlines.

“I’m very excited for this opportunity with the Flight Safety Foundation,” Mr. Quevedo commented. “Throughout my career, I’ve been familiar with some of the Foundation’s technical projects through my safety work and always found it to be top notch. I’m pleased to have the chance to work on safety issues that can benefit the industry as a whole as part of the Foundation team.”
