Alexandria, VA, March 14, 2007 — The 19th annual European Aviation Safety Seminar (EASS), presented by Flight Safety Foundation (FSF) and the European Regions Airline Association (ERA), wrapped up in Amsterdam, Netherlands, today. The seminar was a success, with 225 attendees from more than 30 countries.
The theme of this year’s EASS, “Staying Safe in Times of Change,” was reflected in the 15 papers presented during the seminar. The presentations discussed safety trends and initiatives, operational issues, accident risks and the collection and use of safety information.
“We’re pleased not only with the turnout of attendees but also with the quality of the presentations at this year’s EASS,” said FSF President and CEO William R. Voss. “Our speakers presented thought-provoking ideas as well as important updates about work in specific areas. We hope that everyone brought from this seminar new information that they can use in making aviation throughout Europe and around the world even safer.”
The EASS was established by the Foundation in 1989 to address the safety challenges of aviation growth in Europe. The seminar has been co-presented by ERA since 2000. Attendees include airline managers, airport operators, flight crew, safety managers and insurance executives, as well as maintenance and equipment managers, regulators, instructors and researchers.
The 20th annual EASS is scheduled to be presented in Bucharest, Romania, March 10 through March 12, 2008.
