TAIPEI — Flight Safety Foundation and the China Aviation Development Foundation (CADF) Friday signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) under which the CADF will be the host sponsor of the Foundation’s 72nd annual International Air Safety Summit (IASS) in Taipei. IASS 2019 has been scheduled for Nov. 4–6, 2019, and will be held at the Mandarin Oriental Taipei.
At a ceremony today in Taipei at the Sherwood Hotel, the MOU was signed by CADF Chairman Wang Kwo-Tsai and FSF Vice President, Technical, Mark Millam. Among the industry executives and aviation stakeholders in attendance were Danny C. Ho, who is chief executive vice president, EVA Airways, and a member of the Foundation’s Board of Governors, as well as members of CADF’s Board of Directors.
“We are extremely pleased and excited to be bringing IASS, the aviation industry’s premier annual safety event, to Taipei in 2019,” said Millam. “The Asia-Pacific region has long been the aviation industry’s growth driver and is an ideal location for IASS 2019. We want to thank everyone at the China Aviation Development Foundation and EVA Airways for everything they have done to make this day possible, and we are looking forward to working with them between now and November 2019 to make IASS 2019 a truly outstanding and informative event.”
CADF Chairman Wang Kwo-Tsai said: “China Aviation Development Foundation is proud to have this opportunity to work with the Flight Safety Foundation. We believe that bringing the 2019 International Air Safety Summit to Taipei will provide us with connections to the international aviation safety experts from around the world, and will enhance attention on aviation safety in Taiwan. We look forward to learn from our international colleagues, and to contribute to enhancing international air safety.”
Held annually since 1947, the IASS is aviation’s leading safety summit, typically drawing more than 300 aviation safety professionals from around the world to exchange information and propose new directions for further risk reductions. The summit covers safety, training, practical solutions, management, human factors and other issues for scheduled airlines, manufacturers and equipment suppliers, trainers, flight crews, maintenance personnel and industry executives.
