The Australian Federal Police (AFP) have launched an investigation into 15 incidents of unauthorized radio transmissions with aircraft at Melbourne and Avalon Airports, according to a media release issued jointly by AFP; Airservices Australia, the country’s air navigation services provider; and the Australian Communications and Media Authority. In addition, the three organizations issued a call for public help for information leading to the identification and arrest of whomever is responsible. AFP said there is no threat to the safety and security of the traveling public and that airlines have been briefed.
