To be effective, a strong aviation cybersecurity culture, like a strong safety culture, must originate with top management and spread throughout a company, Rashad Karaky, aviation cybersecurity officer at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), told a Flight Safety Foundation safety seminar today (Sept. 22).
“Humans are the weakest link in the cyber chain but also the first line of defense,” Karaky told the closing session of the Foundation’s 74th annual International Air Safety Summit (IASS), which was held virtually.
Karaky described a strong cybersecurity culture as “a cornerstone to protect aviation against cyber threats.”
