The International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) identified 95 accidents in 2024 involving scheduled commercial aircraft operations — 44 percent more than the 66 accidents recorded the previous year.
ICAO’s 2025 Safety Report — State of Global Aviation Safety said that of the 95 total accidents in 2024, 10 were fatal accidents, with 296 associated fatalities; the year’s global accident rate was 2.56 per million departures. In comparison, the 66 accidents recorded in 2023 included one fatal accident with 72 fatalities; the global accident rate was 1.87 per million departures.
