More than 80 percent of airline passengers say they do not plan to return to their former travel routines after the COVID-19 pandemic is over, according to a survey conducted for mobile satellite communications firm Inmarsat.
Results of the Passenger Confidence Tracker survey, announced this week, said the answers of nearly 10,000 survey respondents from 12 countries indicated that “flying habits are set to change drastically for the long term,” with those changes continuing even after the pandemic ends. All of those questioned have flown at least once in the last 18 months, and about one-third said they have flown in a commercial airplane since the pandemic began.
Nevertheless, 31 percent said they expect to fly less in the future, and 41 percent said they expect to travel less, not only on airlines but also in other modes of transportation.
