Flight Safety Foundation submitted a working paper on pilot training and competency for consideration at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) 40th Triennial Assembly, as well as  information papers on the applications and benefits of space-based ADS-B and the criminalization of accident and incident investigations. The Foundation was represented at the event, held Sept. 24–Oct. 4 in Montreal, by President and CEO Dr. Hassan Shahidi and Vice President, Technical, Mark Millam.

In the working paper — “Multi-Pronged Approach to Enhancing Pilot Training and Competency During a Period of Anticipated Growth and Complexity” — the Foundation says that projected rapid global growth in commercial aviation makes a pragmatic, data-driven approach to pilot training essential for the continued improvement of the industry’s safety performance.
