More than 18 months ago, Flight Safety Foundation and the China Aviation Development Foundation (CADF) began planning and organizing the 72nd International Air Safety Summit (IASS). Those months and months of emails, phone calls, committee meetings and planning sessions resulted in what I think was one of our best IASSs ever.
Held Nov. 4−6 at the Mandarin Oriental in Taipei, IASS 2019 featured scene-setting keynote addresses, informative safety presentations, provocative panel discussions — my favorite was the two-part discussion on crisis management — and an engaged and questioning audience of more than 300 professionals. The exhibition area was busy, and the breaks hummed with networking and activity. On top of all that, the CADF-hosted gala dinner was memorable for both the food and the entertainment.
