Passenger airline operators should enhance passenger safety briefings to re-emphasize that, in case of an emergency evacuation, “all bags or personal belongings must be left behind, with no exceptions,” the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) says.
In Safety Alert for Operators (SAFO) 25003, issued in mid-September, the FAA said that it was acting because operational data and safety reports have identified a number of recent events in which passengers have attempted to take personal carry-on items with them during emergency evacuations. In several instances, videos were posted online showing passengers clutching luggage during evacuations.
