Inadvertent application of the parking brake or binding of the wheel brakes during the initial takeoff roll likely caused the brakes to overheat and disintegrate, resulting in the pilot’s inability to safely reject the takeoff from Leeds Bradford International Airport in West Yorkshire, England, the afternoon of June 7, 2010, said the report by the U.K. Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB).
