The July 30th dinner was a huge success, drawing 175 attendees to the National Press Club in Washington for a networking reception, dinner and silent auction. The event raised more than $90,000 to fund the Foundation’s work around the world. A highlight of the evening was the keynote address delivered by Robert Sumwalt, member, U.S. National Transportation Safety Board. Sumwalt spoke on leadership and safety, and the need for organizations to make safety part of their organizational culture and not just a top priority because priorities can change. Also speaking at the event was Kenneth J. Hylander, chairman of the Foundation’s Board of Governors, who gave an update on the Foundation’s activities and outlined the organization’s plans for the future. Foundation President and CEO Jon Beatty (above) served as the evening’s master of ceremonies.
