A Marthakal Yolngu Airline Cessna 310R touched down slightly less than halfway along Runway 08 at Lake Evella, Northern Territory, Australia; when the pilot applied brakes, the airplane did not decelerate as expected and instead continued past the end of the runway into a perimeter fence.
The pilot — conducting his first flight as pilot-in-command of a multiengine aircraft — and four passengers were uninjured in the May 29, 2025, crash, which did substantial damage to the airplane, according to the Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB).
