Welcoming Remarks:

  • Mr. Mark Millam, Master of Ceremonies and Vice President, Technical, Flight Safety Foundation

As the industry reconstitutes operations after the pandemic, there will be numerous challenges in safely resuming and sustaining operations. An international panel of industry leaders will set the framework of the changed environment and outline the challenges of pandemic and non-pandemic related safety issues. The panel will look at how to implement widespread operational health safety measures while maintaining aviation safety, and any actions needed to coordinate harmonized COVID-19 protective procedures across international operations.

Executive Panel Discussion:

  • Mr. Alexandre de Juniac, Director General and CEO, International Air Transport Association (IATA)
  • Mr. Luis Felipe de Oliveira, Director General, Airports Council International (ACI)
  • Mr. Simon Hocquard, Director General, Civil Air Navigation Services Organisation (CANSO)

Enjoy interactive networking with exhibitors each afternoon of IASS 2020.

1:00 – 2:30 p.m. | Session 2 – Given the Challenges – Strategies and Implementation Plans

There are lessons to be learned from how the aviation community has reacted and is still reacting to, what is for many, an existential crisis. Individual operators, regulators, service providers, and international coordination mechanisms have all had to change at least some facets of their operations and processes. This session will further explore these challenges, describe the strategies and implementation plans that have already been mapped out by the industry, and update the audience on any new developments or obstacles confronting it during the recovery phase.

Panel Discussion:

  • Mr. Ali Bahrami, Associate Administrator for Aviation Safety, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
  • Mr. Mark Searle, Global Director of Safety, International Air Transport Association (IATA)
  • Mr. Tay Tiang Guan, Deputy Director-General, Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS)

Moderated by Mr. Steve Creamer, Director of the Air Navigation Bureau, International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)

2:30 – 3:15 p.m. | Panel Discussion – Network and Small Community Air Service

  • Mr. Nicholas E. Calio, President and CEO, Airlines for America (A4A)

Moderated by Ms. Peggy Gilligan, Member, Board of Governors, Flight Safety Foundation

3:15 – 3:45 p.m. | Closing Keynote

The state of the industry is determined by looking at more than the number of accident and incident events. Other measures are the millions of successful flights, how the industry is changing, and how the challenges before us have evolved. Our keynote speaker will share the North American, United States perspective to close out day one.

Keynote Address:

  • Mr. Steve Dickson, Administrator, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA)
