‘No Previous Instances’

Learjet 35A. Destroyed. Four fatalities.

The flight crew had conducted an air ambulance flight from Costa Rica to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, U.S., and were preparing to return to their home base in Cozumel, Mexico, with a physician and a flight nurse aboard the night of Nov. 19, 2013.

Night visual meteorological conditions (VMC) prevailed at Fort Lauderdale/Hollywood International Airport, and the crew was cleared for takeoff to the east, over the Atlantic Ocean.
