Positive Space for Gen Y

Fascination with generational differences among today’s working aviation professionals has moved beyond specialists in recruiting and training to others with direct responsibilities for operational safety. A recent indicator was the number of presentations and discussions during the World Aviation Training Conference and Tradeshow (WATS 2012) in Orlando, Florida, U.S., in April about integrating Generation Y (Gen Y) into the industry. Gen Y — one of several popular terms, such as millennials — refers to people born between 1982 and 2004 by some definitions (Table 1).
