No fatal accidents were recorded in 2023 in the commercial airplane operations that are the subjects of Boeing’s annual Statistical Summary of Commercial Jet Airplane Accidents — the first fatality-free year since the company began collecting data in 1959.
Boeing recorded 11 accidents in 2023 involving aircraft in the worldwide commercial jet fleet; no injuries were reported in any of the 11 accidents, but the airplanes all received substantial damage.
The year was one of the safest on record, Elisabeth Martin, Boeing Vice President for Enterprise Safety and Mission Assurance Product and Services Safety, said in the Statistical Summary, issued in August.
