The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has not developed an overall plan for integrating drones into the National Airspace System, and the lack of such a plan has complicated efforts by drone operators to gain approval for advanced operations, a government oversight agency says.
“FAA has developed various planning documents to manage its efforts to integrate drones,” the Government Accountability Office (GAO) said in a report released Jan. 26. “But it has yet to develop a comprehensive strategy to guide these efforts. For example, FAA’s documents don’t include important elements — such as goals, objectives and milestones — that would help FAA manage more effectively.”
