Two runway safety issues have held their places on the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) Watchlist 2022 — the compilation of safety issues that the TSB considers in need of urgent attention.
In an announcement Wednesday, the TSB issued the 2022 list, which includes runway overruns and the risk of collisions from runway incursions, along with three issues that have been persistent problems for all modes of transportation — fatigue, safety management and regulatory surveillance. Three other issues were specific to the rail and maritime industries.
“Some of these issues have been on the Watchlist for far too long, reflecting decades-old safety deficiencies,” TSB Chair Kathy Fox said. “While some steps have been taken to address these, more simply needs to be done.”
