The number of airline passengers in the first four months of the year increased by 65 percent compared with the first four months of 2021, and flight departures increased 30 percent in the same period, the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) says.
In a mid-May statement, ICAO said its analysis of global air traffic “reveals clear signs of a strong global recovery, characterized by increasing airline confidence and a range of regional air connectivity and air travel facilitation improvements.”
Domestic seat capacity in the Americas, India and Australia already has recovered to pre-pandemic levels and is “on a very positive trajectory within Europe,” ICAO said.
