Some 201 aviation accidents were reported in Canada in 2018, down 19 percent from the previous year and down 25 percent from the annual average of 267 accidents the previous decade, the Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) says (Figure 1).
The 201 accidents involved 66 commercial aircraft, 134 private aircraft and two state aircraft, the TSB said in its annual report.
Of the 201 accidents, 23 resulted in a total of 38 fatalities, the report said. In comparison, the annual averages for the decade from 2008 through 2017 were 32 fatal accidents and 55 fatalities.
