The Boeing 777 was accelerating for takeoff at London Gatwick Airport when the copilot (the pilot flying) inadvertently retarded the thrust levers when procedures instead called for him to remove his hand from the levers. Airspeed increased beyond V2 (rotation speed) before the copilot noticed the error and briefly advanced the thrust levers before beginning the rejected takeoff procedure (RTO).
The airplane was stopped well before the end of the runway surface, and none of the 347 passengers and crewmembers was injured.
